Wildfire war team near Behchoko and Tlicho all-weather road design site

Crews are causing a wildfire about 36 kilometres west of the Northwest Territories of Behchokǫ̀ and two kilometres from Tlicho’s all-weather road design area, the N.W.T. Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The fire reached about 150 hectares beyond Tuesday afternoon, according to the dep’s forest fire update website. The previous Tuesday, the dep. he said it 60 hectares. It is observed that it was caused by lightning.

The branch says the fire does not pose a threat to large apple paintings or the all-weather road design camp, but that smoke can calm air quality in Behchokǫ̀ and What.

Three crews and technicians were sent to fight the fire.

There were 20 active fires in the territory on Tuesday afternoon, six of which reported two hours ago, the dep. Said.

There have been a total of 38 fires in territory this year, affecting 5,526 hectares.
