Ukraine-Russia war latest: Ukrainian forces seize land inside Russia – as Putin faces ‘domestic discontent’

The intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense said that the rhythm of territorial profits obtained through Moscow forces in Ukraine has slowed down in recent weeks.

“In January 2025, Russia’s territorial progress in Ukraine decreased speed while taking around 320 square feet, opposed to around 400 square feet in December 2024,” said the update.

“Russia seized control of the stronghold of Velyka Novosilka, but advances along most of the frontline have been relatively minor.”

The officials added that the North Korean teams that fight along the Russian forces had been “temporarily eliminated” from the front lines, “will probably rest and before redistribution. “

“This is almost certainly primarily due to heavy losses sustained during attacks against Ukrainian-held positions,” they said.

These photographs show that the Ukrainian forces produced a shooting training with tank equipment, in an unleashed position in the country.

One of Donald Trump’s most frequently-aired  grievances is the respective level of contributions to NATO by its various members.

The leader has often bemoaned the fact that many countries pay less towards the alliance than Washington – although the latest figures released by NATO show Germany matched the US funding.

However, in the context of Trump’s complaints, NATO general secretary, Mark Rutte, said the defense expenses of the organization of the organization and Canada greater than 20% in 2024, compared to last year,

Many members have been anxious to show they have taken Trump’s message on board and have already increased military spending, particularly since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

NATO has said that strengthening 20% of the alliance’s non-US members its overall defence spending to more than $485 billion ($390 billion).

“I can’t wait to welcome the attached ministers in NATO next week, where we will communicate about making an investment increasing .

“We’ve crunched the numbers. They’re going up. In fact, spending by Europe and Canada is up 20% in 2024, bringing the total additional investment in recent years from $640bn to $700bn.”

The Russian forces have taken the city of Tretsk in eastern Ukraine, said Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

It has not been possible to independently verify the battlefield report.

A main fight for the city began in June last year, with sour struggles since then.

Analysts recommend that it be strategic price as a logistics center.

Russia calls the city through its call from the Soviet era of Dzerzhynsk and says that the Donetsk region of East Ukraine is now a component of Russia, a claim that kyiv rejects.

Russian forces also continue pushing toward Pokrovsk, a key logistics hub roughly 50km southwest of Toretsk, and towards Chasiv Yar to the north.

A series of maps show the current situation at various points on the Ukraine-Russia front lines.

Ukraine said that she idea that the paintings of the International Criminal Court regarding Russian war crimes will continue despite the sanctions imposed on the organization through Donald Trump.

Trump Legal Economic and Sanctions aimed at other people who paint in ICC polls on U. S. citizens or U. S. allies like Israel.

The ICC is a permanent short film that can continue for war crimes, crimes opposed to humanity, genocide and the crime of aggression opposed to the territory of member states or through their nationals.

And Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said in a report on Kiev: “We are convinced that the ICC will continue to serve purposes in the case of Ukraine, in Russians of specific war criminals.

“We know that the meeting between the United States and the ICC has a long history. “

We return now to the subject of a potential meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

Moscow said this morning that there had been many erroneous reports about U. S. degrees to end the Ukraine War, and called for patience.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asked this morning about a report that Trump’s envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is seeking to establish a truce even before talking about a peace colony.

“We have nothing to add yet,” he said.

“There’s nothing really extensive about this account; we just want to be patient. “

Trump and Putin said they wanted them to meet in person.

“Russia is open to negotiations. In any case, an agreement as a result of negotiations,” said Peskov.

As we indicated previously on the day, CNN in the past quoted Peskov saying that there had been no initial contacts between the two leaders to be located if said assembly was mandatory or where and how can take a position

Russian troops have taken Druzhba’s village in the eastern region of Donetk of Ukraine, reports the Russian state news firm Tass, reports the Ministry of Defense.

The report is verified independently, but we will provide updates as we get them.

As we have detailed in our article of 29. 9, the Ukrainian forces now have a safe number of colonies in the Russian region of Koursk, after unforeseen counteroffensive in the last two days.

Kyiv has now said it is ready to open a humanitarian corridor to let civilians living in border areas seized by its army return to Russian-controlled territory, if Moscow requests one.

“Apparently, the Russians do not want such a humanitarian corridor, because we have not received a corresponding request from them,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office said, accusing Moscow of “indifference” to the fate of its own citizens.

More than Russian 1,500 civilians are said to be still living in areas of the western Kursk, and there are reports of many losing contact with family members on the other side of the frontline.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi is in Moscow today to hold talks with Alexei Likhachev, head of Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom.

The head of discussion subjects is the existing scenario of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear force plant, whose Russian forces took some time after starting the war with Ukraine in 2022

Speaking after holding conversations in Moscow, Grossi said the installation, the nuclear force plant in Europe, had faced an expanding number of attacks.

“The number of attacks on the Zaporizhzhya NPP is increasing,” he said.

“We communicated about it in the report. We do not specify the precise figure, it increases. “

The Russian news firm of the Tass state cited, saying that it was not imaginable to discover which component put the attacks.

“Small plastic or wood fragments that remain through alleged drones and drones allow us to communicate about the origin of these fragments and those devices,” he said.

“However, I would like to guarantee that I am expanding the disorders of this order to the point of foreign discussions. “
