Trump’s gunman flew over rally with drone before firing: reports

ISTANBUL

The guy who shot former U. S. President Donald Trump in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania flew over the rally site using a drone just hours before Trump made the impression on stage, according to NBC News.

The drone, believed to be a DJI model, provided 20-year-old gunner Thomas Crooks with an antenna that may have helped him plan the attack.

At the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump shot him in the ear in what he described as an assassination attempt.

After the attack, Crooks fatally shot Secret Service agents.

The first reports on drone use were first made public through the Wall Street Journal.

This aerial surveillance is one of several security failures that allowed the shooter to almost succeed in injuring the former president.

Normally, the Secret Service prohibits drones from flying over safe areas; it is unclear whether such measures were in place at Butler’s rally.

The researchers likely laid out the main points about the drone’s flight through electronic lines of its trajectory, which DJI would possibly have recorded.

Authorities discovered a drone and related devices in Crooks’ vehicle, according to a senior law enforcement source.

The motive for the attack on Trump remains unknown and is currently being investigated.

In reaction to the incident, the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General launched three separate investigations into the Secret Service’s handling of security at the political campaign event in Butler.

Additionally, House Speaker Mike Johnson has pledged to open a congressional investigation, and Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee at a hearing on Monday.
