Famed for an anti-establishment stance and a love of the earthier end of the country music spectrum, ‘outlaw country’ artists are performers who have rejected the slick production values and popular structures of the highly stylised Nashville sound and simply gone their own sweet way. Alive or dead, uDiscover’s Top 10 Outlaw Country Pioneers walked it like they talked it and their music continues to inspire the finest country music artists today.
Have we left the artists of the Hors-La-Loi country? Let us know how to underline.
Pretty sure Waylon Jennings should be on that list!
Waylon is represented second.
Waylon is represented in second place.
Where is Kris Kristopherson?
No waylon? No, David Allan Coe? Billy Joe Shaver? Would you do some studies before writing these nonsense.
Any list that in Outlaw Country that comes with Doug Sahm is a valid list in the country’s outlaw.
Seriously, no David Allen Coe, Billy Joe Shaver… – either you get “outlaw” or you dont. The Author of the author of this does not…
David Allan Coe Merits #1 . . How the hell can you simply David Allan Coe of someone?
As great as they are, I do not perceive why Loretta and George Jones are on this list.
No Kris Kristoffeson? No David Allen Coe?
Why is Ernest Tubb on your list?
Guy Clark not mentioned . . .
Jerry Jeff would be my first choice
These “outlaws” sang songs written through Blaze Foley. He was Zandt’s most productive friend and toured together. It was known that Blaze sang with Van Zandt in Pancho and Lefty. He never showed how country music feels and even felt what was politically acceptable. He raised deeply and was cynical, his trust formula was left. Look at the Blaze movie on Netflix. Il is based on the novel that lives in the forest in a house in the tree through what many thought like his wife Sybil Rose.
David Allen eats Merve Mrs. not popularity since most of his incredibly racist music and his love for calling black humans like you, fortunately used the word N in his songs. It is not the music that is garbage.
Jerry Jeff Walker, David Allen Coe and Kris was lost
Gram Parsons. Most outlaws in their own right. Broad, but probably saddened by his lack of advertising success, he maintained his vision of the hip, rockin, blues country and supported other musicians in which he believed (including the divine Miss Harris). Gram did not adhere to anyone’s regulations.
Like Jerry Jeff, you left out Johnny Paycheck. Also from a different part of the country, but nonetheless a contributing outlaw.
Billy Joe Shaver!
Emmylou Harris is from Virginia, Alabama.
Jessi Colter, one of the best!
Waylon is indexed, as discussed David Allan Coe is garbage. I would have indexed Gary Stewart, Johnny Paycheck and Tanya Tucker, Dean Dillon, Hank Williams, Jr. , and Jerry Jeff Walker
I would say David Allen Coe is there. He wrote songs for the peak of former country stars.
Where is Kris krissofferson ??? On the outlaw list. One of my favorite???
Kris Krissofferson not on the list, you are joking how much more outsider you can get, but still reject an appointment as a scholar of Rhodes to write bad melodies as he wrote. See Steve Earl Mad on this list.
Hank Williams Jr., Johnny Paycheck, Kris Kristofferson, David Allan Coe,
Form your studies before asking this question. Get a few pages to get started your list, it continues, and on, and on, and onnn …….
