The TV series that will air this week.

If you’re looking for a new screen to watch this week, the vast landscape of streaming networks will provide you with plenty of options. So if someone tries to tell you “there’s nothing smart”, tell them they’re a liar because all kinds of smart displays are broadcast. For example, there is a new season of Umbrella Academy. If that’s not your thing, you can watch a rebooted Dance Moms; It’s a whole new era for Dance Moms. Judy Justice is there, judging everyone, as she does. There’s also a new exhibit about alien abductions and the Chicago Bears.

The fourth and final season of Umbrella Academy promises to conclude the story of the Hargreeves brothers’ war against the mysterious Guardians. The season begins with our heroes stripped of their powers and separated, leaving each to fend for themselves in a new reality. If you like superheroes even a little, don’t miss this last season.

I don’t like kids, even-tempered parents, and overbearing coaches, so I’m not in the target demographic of Dance Moms: A New Era, but other people enjoyed the original, so I probably won’t speak it. The reboot introduces dynamic dance coach Glo Hampton, who needs to take her students to the prestigious Studio Bleu dance school. To achieve this, she will have to deal with precocious children, scheming mothers and constant dramas.

Television judges like Judge Joe Brown, Judge David Young and Judge Faith come and go, but there’s only one Judge Judy, the stalwart queen of cringe-worthy comments and the ultimate bullshit debunker. Judy Justice season 3 will shake up the winning formula, so expect a series of satisfying (if legally dubious) decisions foisted on the kind of jerks she’d expect to see in a daylight courtroom.

It begins streaming on FreeVee on August 5.

Spoiler: fiction.

This Netflix original series is a modern take on a classic formula: a brave, precocious teenager sets out to solve a mystery. Emma Myers, who you’d likely play Wednesday Addams’ werewolf roommate, plays budding detective Pip Fitz-Amobi, a character created through YA novelist Holly Jackson in the e-book on which it’s based this series. If you love Nancy Drew, but feel like she’s a little dated, check out A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.

The first 3 seasons of Netflix’s revival of Unsolved Mysteries are excellent. Netflix hasn’t released many main points about volume 4 yet, however, if past seasons are any indication, it will include a combination of unexplained deaths, disappearances, paranormal activity, UFOs, and other “what the fuck?”Content presented in a comprehensive and thoughtful manner.

The most recent animated version of Batman was produced by Matt Reeves, J. J. Abrams and Bruce Timms, so I have high hopes. Caped Crusader is a family Batman series, so it brings the kids together, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some serious action and thrills when Batman takes on Clayface, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and a women’s edition of The Penguin.

It begins airing on August 1.
