Reddit sports communities are considering bans on X posts

A number of prominent sports communities on Reddit are considering a change that would considerably shakeup the content seen by their subscribers.

In a move that gained traction in Sandret R/Hockey before spreading to Reddit communities in other primary sports leagues, Reddit users and subddit moderators are contemplating banning posts originating from social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Posts on the topic on the NFL, NBA, MLB, and MLS subreddits have garnered a great deal of attention within those communities.

The issue for most users seems to be around the login requirement that X has recently implemented. Now, when a Reddit user clicks on a post that links to X, that user is required to be logged in to an X account or they cannot view the linked content.

For a platform such as Reddit, where much of it is adding content of many online platforms, this can cause headaches for users who only need to see the content and move Inarray

Some Reddit users suggest that subreddits require embedded videos or screenshots of X posts than a direct link to the posts in the query due to new login requirements.

If these regulations were implemented, primary sports sub -edits would be very different. Over time, 4 of the five sensitive maximum publications of the day in R/NBA are links to X. Similarly, the maximum sports mountains are full of x links in their first pages.

A ban on X would also have widespread implications for journalists, team accounts, and websites that rely on traffic generated through those Reddit communities as components of their audience. Reddit communities serve as a megaphone for reports or stories that are first published on someone’s back line.

Right now, the Bluesky option does not require login for users to view the content, leading some Reddit users to recommend posting links from there.

If those bans are implemented, it would be one of the most significant symptoms of the development of user frustration with the continuous adjustments to X diminishing what was once a user-friendly experience.

“Melania is lovely. He has wonderful clothes. She is a lovely woman. I didn’t like his hat. “

“This is a human violation. “
