Linkin Park teases new music

Linkin Park didn’t break up when singer Chester Bennington died in 2017, but they haven’t been active since, either. The hard rock band never made any official statement about whether they would be making music again, but it seems that those days are over. While the members concentrate their artistic efforts elsewhere, the organization seems to be teasing a new song or, more accurately, an old one that could finally see the light of day.

The official account of the band X (formerly Twitter) recently announced a track called “Friendly Fire”. The track described via Linkin Park as “a new unreleased song from the One More Light 2017 sessions. “The message was also accompanied by a brief excerpt from the song.

One More Light was Linkin Park’s final album, it was not known at the time of its release that it would play this role. Bennington committed suicide just months after the album’s arrival, and the band has remained largely silent since.

The fact that Linkin Park has a song to share is desirable and very exciting for long-time enthusiasts of the organization, but some very important data is missing from their message. At the moment, we don’t know when “Friendly Fire” will be released. It’s unlikely that the organization would announce this removal if they didn’t intend to make it public, but for now, those main points remain secret.

This is rarely the first time Linkin Park enthusiasts have heard about the “Friendly Fire” lifestyle. Mike Shinoda, one of the band members, has talked about it in the past, so those who are very attached to the band already know the title, even if it is possibly the first time they hear a fragment of the song.

Although it’s been over a decade since Linkin Park last released an album and they haven’t released anything new since, the organization has released some unreleased tracks in recent years. They scored another hit on the Billboard charts in mid-2023 with “Lost,” which joined the feature film Meteora when it was re-released to celebrate its twentieth anniversary. Before that, they also shared “She Couldn’t” from the 20th anniversary edition of their debut album Hybrid Theory in 2020.
