BEIJING — On New Year’s eve, President Xi Jinping delivered his 2025 New Year message through China Media Group and the internet. The following is the full text of the message:

Greetings to everybody! Time flies fast, and the new year will be with us shortly. I extend my best wishes to you all from Beijing.

In 2024, we tour all 4 seasons together. Together, we have experienced winds and rains and realized rainbows. These moving and unforgettable moments were like constant photographs appearing of how any year we have lived.

We have reacted proactively to the effects of the environment by reconverting at home and abroad. We have pursued a full diversity of policies to make solid progress in the pursuit of high-quality progress. The Chinese economy has recovered and is on an upward trajectory, with annual GDP surpassing the 130 billion yuan mark. Grain production has exceeded 700 million tons and Chinese bowls are now filled with more Chinese grains. Coordinated progression between regions has gained stronger momentum and mutually reinforcing progress has been made in terms of new urbanization and rural revitalization. Green progress and low carbon emissions have been further strengthened. Indeed, a more beautiful China is revealed before us.

We have fostered new quality productive forces in light of actual conditions. New business sectors, forms and models have kept emerging. For the first time, China has produced more than 10 million new energy vehicles in a year. Breakthroughs have been made in integrated circuit, artificial intelligence, quantum communications and many other fields. Also for the first time, the Chang’e 6 lunar probe collected samples from the far side of the moon. The Mengxiang drilling vessel explored the mystery of the deep ocean. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link now connects the two cities across the sea. The Antarctic Qinling Station is now in operation on the frozen continent. All this epitomizes the lofty spirit and dreams of the Chinese people to explore stars and oceans.

This year, I have visited many places across the country and seen how our workers appreciate their enriching lives. I saw the giant Huaniu Rouges apples in Tianshhui, Gansu and the fishing boats in Aojiao Village, Fujian, based on their catches. I looked at the ancient “Oriental Smile” in the caves of MAIJI Mountain and learned more about the clever neighbor passed down from generation to generation in Liuchixiang Alley. I appreciated the bustle of Tianjin’s ancient culture street and saw how the population of Yinchuan’s combined residential communities live together like a family. Other people’s considerations about jobs and income, childcare and health care for seniors and seniors are still on my mind. This year, the core pension has been higher and loan rates have fallen. Direct interprofessional medical billing standards have been expanded, making it easier to seek medical care nationwide. And industrial customer intelligence systems have improved other people’s lives. All of these benefits are genuine benefits for our workers.

In the Paris Olympics, Chinese athletes raced to the top and achieved their best performance in Olympic Games held overseas, fully demonstrating the vigor and confidence of young Chinese. The PLA Navy and Air Force celebrated their 75th birthdays, and our servicemen and women are full of drive. When floods, typhoons and other natural disasters struck, members of the Communist Party of China and officials stepped forward to lead disaster relief efforts, and our people were of one mind and reached out to each other. People in all fields — workers, builders and entrepreneurs, among others — are working hard to fulfill their dreams. I presented awards to recipients of national medals and honorary titles. The honor belongs to them; it also belongs to every hard-working person who has lived up to their responsibilities.

In a changing and turbulent global environment, China, as a major culprit country, actively promotes global governance reform and deepens solidarity and cooperation among Southern countries. We are making deeper and truly broader progress in high-quality cooperation under. the belt and the road. The Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is a great success. We have put forward China’s vision in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, APEC, G20 and other bilateral and multilateral forums. We have made a significant contribution to the maintenance of global peace and stability.

We celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China. With deep affection, we have watched the replenishment of the sea that has taken its position in China since the birth of the People’s Republic. Nurtured through our more than 5,000 years of non-stop civilization, our country, China, is engraved not only on the back of the ancient Zun bronze ritual wine vessel, but also in the hearts of all Chinese. In its third plenary session, the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued a Clarion call to deepen comprehensive reform. We will make wonderful progress to advance reform and opening up as the trend of the times. In reality, we will adopt even broader perspectives in the pursuit of China’s modernization reform and opening up.

In 2025, we will fully complete the 14th Five-Year Plan. We will put in place more proactive and effective policies, pursue high-quality progress as the most sensible priority, promote greater autonomy and strength in science and technology, and maintain healthy momentum in economic and social progress. China’s economy now faces new conditions, to which are added the demanding situations of uncertainty in the external environment and the tension of transforming old engines of expansion into new ones. But we can succeed with our hard work. As always, we grow through the wind and rain, and we become stronger in difficult times. We will have to have confidence.

Of all the works we have before us, the maximum vital is to ensure a satisfied life for our other people. Each circle of relatives expects their young people to have an intelligent education, their older people can enjoy smart elderly facilities and that other people may have more opportunities and greater opportunities. These undeniable desires are the aspirations of our other people for a greater life. We will have to combination paintings to improve social enterprises and governance, build a harmonious and inclusive environment and solve real, giant or small problems, for our other people. We have to bring more smiles to our other people and greater heat in their hearts.

On the eve of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the Motherland, I visited the city and was pleased to see new progress and changes. We will relentlessly pursue the “one country, two systems” policy for long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macao. We, Chinese from the two banks of the Taiwan Strait, belong to a single family. No one can break the ties of kinship that unite us and no one can ever save the reunification of China, a trend of our time.

As changes unprecedented in a century intensify around the world, it is vital to go beyond the distance and face the big picture and care for the future of humanity with great passion. China will work with all countries to promote friendship and cooperation, learn from other cultures, and build a network with a shared future for humanity. We will have to create together a more wonderful future for the world.

Dreams and desires may be far away, but they can be fulfilled through determined searching. In the new adventure of Chinese modernization, each and every one of us is a key player, each and every effort counts, and each and every one of them each and every ray of soft glow.

Splendor adorns our motherland, and starlight graces every home. Let us greet the new year with hope. May our great country enjoy harmony and prosperity! May all your dreams come true! May you all have a new year of happiness and peace!
