Curzon gets a license to a five-million pound house art theater in Weybridge

Curzon has been legal to turn weybridge’s public theater into a cinema with two 1-screen screens. five million pounds.

The movie theater chain plans to live the empty design of Weybridge Hall on Church Street with a 25-year lease.

In front of the video link of the Elmbridge Municipal Council Licensing Subcommittee on Monday morning (July 6), attorney Richard Taylor, representing Curzon, drew up more details on the plans.

He said the cinema would collect about five million pounds and create 10 jobs, have two screens and a little over a hundred seats.

“Curzon specializes in independent film, foreign languages and art house, so what I propose here is an organization where it is an experienced operator,” Taylor told the committee.

“And I can tell you right away that 13 operational sites in Curzon are marketed without complaints, without major difficulties.”

Residents living near the site expressed concern about increased parking and noise, and questioned the verdict of selling alcohol until midnight.

When Curzon obtained the license, the subcommittee replaced alcohol hours until 11:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and until Friday and Saturday.

A permit was granted to make plans for a cinema on the site in March 2018, but remained unoccupied. It may be a step back to its roots for theatre, where it first became a cinema in 1920 and was called Kinema.

It was renamed King George’s Cinema in 1927 when it all began to convert the first “talkie” films and World War II worked. The site was changed to a public corridor in 1956.
