Court order postponing eviction of Revue cinema until the end of October

An injunction temporarily blocking the eviction of the Revue cinema near Toronto’s High Park has been extended until the end of the year.

According to an article in Revue Cinema.

Toronto’s West Theatre, on Roncesvalles Avenue, opened in 1912 as a theatre and functional corridor with a small level and movable screen. Since then it has been classified as a World Heritage Site.

In 2006, the Revue Cinéma closed its doors. This led to the creation of the Revue Film Society, an organization that fought to keep the area operational.

The Revue Film Society announced on social media last month that negotiations with the landlord to extend the lease beyond June 30 had failed.

However, the organization has requested a court order to prevent a possible eviction.
