INVICTUS GAMES REARRANGED
The Invictus Games, that was cancelled (like every event) this year due to coronavirus has been rescheduled.
It will now take place from May 29 to June 5 in the Hague.
VICTORIA SEES RECORD 532 CASES
Australia’s hard-hit Victoria state posted a new daily record of 532 new coronavirus cases on Monday.
Melbourne is currently half way through a six-week lockdown aimed at curbing the spread of the disease. Mask-wearing in Victoria became compulsory last week.
The new cases and six deaths reported on Monday surpasses a previous record of 484 new infections reported on Wednesday last week.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said the biggest driver of the new infections was people continuing to go to work after showing symptoms.
RYANAIR REPORTS LOSS OF £168M
Ryanair said it suffered the “most challenging” quarter in its 35-year history as it reported a loss of £168million.
It said a second wave of coronavirus was now its “biggest fear”.
Restrictions saw the company carry 500,000 passengers in the first quarter compared with 41.9 million in the same period last year, while revenue collapsed from £2.1 billion to £113 million.
Flights were resumed on July 1, and the company said it aimed to operate around 40% of its normal July schedule, increasing to 60% in August and 70% in September.
JACINDA ARDEN’S PARTY GETS HIGHEST RESULTS YET IN LATEST POLL
A poll of potential voters in New Zealand has seen Jacinda Arden’s Labour party nab its highest approval ratings yet.
The party charted 61 per cent in a Newshub-Reid Research poll, results released today showed.
Arden currently leads a coalition government with two minority parties – New Zealand First and the Greens.
It follows New Zealand’s unprecedented handling of the coronavirus crisis.
A total of 22 people died in New Zealand of the disease and less than 1,500 were infected.
SAINSBURY’S TO TRIAL VIRTUAL QUEUING
Sainsbury’s will trial is trialling a virtual queuing system that eliminates the need to physically wait in a socially-distanced line outside its shops.
The new queuing system, exclusively revealed by The Sun will see shoppers wait their turn from the comfort of a car, coffee shop or home.
Sainsbury’s insists the system will not disadvantage people without a smartphone.
Supermarket staff can add those folk to the queue, it said.
GOOGLE ACCUSED OF PROFITING FROM ANTIVAXXERS
Google has been accused of profiteering from anti-vaxxers as five companies have pulled online adverts.
An investigation has discovered Google placed ads on websites that spread “dangerous nonsense” about the coronavirus and vaccines.
It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson said antivaxxers were “nuts”.
BRIT COUPLE HAVING TO QUARANTINE AFTER SPAIN HOL SLAM ‘U TURN’

Dominic Raab said today “we can’t give a guarantee” that people won’t have to cancel their holidays at the last moment and said he wouldn’t be going abroad at all this summer.
It comes after the Government announced last night that anyone arriving back in the UK from Spain after midnight would face two weeks in isolation after a spike in cases there.
Brits lashed out at the policy, which they had no notice would change overnight.
But Mr Raab told Sky’s Sophy Ridge this morning: “As we’ve found with Spain, we can’t give a guarantee.”

SPAIN INSISTS COUNTRY IS SAFE
Spain has hit back at the UK’s new quarantine rules, insisting it is “safe for tourists”.
Britain took Spain off its ‘air bridge’ list at midnight after the country saw a dramatic rise in coronavirus cases recently.
Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya said “Spain is a safe country for tourists and for Spaniards” as she tried to save the country’s tourist industry from collapse during the coronavirus pandemic.
FLORIDA OVERTAKES NEW YORK IN NUMBER OF COVID CASES
Florida has overtaken the former US epicentre New York as coronavirus infections surged to 423,000 with nearly 6,000 deaths.
In The Sunshine State, more than 9,300 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Sunday with 78 new deaths.
Today, Florida has 423,855 coronavirus cases, plus 9,344 cases from the previous day, and 5,972 total deaths, according to the Florida Department of Health.
FRESH CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK IN SHROPSHIRE CARAVAN PARK
Twenty-one new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed at a Shropshire caravan park.
The county council fears the number of cases at the site – which is in the town of Craven Arms – will continue to rise before infection control measures start to take effect.
All residents who have come into contact with one of the positive cases have been asked to self-isolate with their households for 14 days.
The 21 people who tested positive for coronavirus were asked to self-isolate for at least seven days from the time they started showing symptoms or from when they received their positive test result.
A testing centre has now been set up on a nearby business park and everyone living on the site has been offered a test.
MOROCCO SHUTS DOWN MAJOR CITIES AFTER SPIKE IN CORONAVIRUS CASES
Morocco will stop people entering and leaving some of its biggest cities from midnight to contain a surge in Covid-19 cases, the interior and health ministries said today.
The cities to be locked down include the economic powerhouse of Casablanca as well as Tangier, Marrakech, Fez and Meknes.
The country eased a nationwide lockdown a month ago, though international flights are still suspended except special flights by national airlines carrying Moroccans or foreign residents.
On Sunday, the health ministry said 633 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, one of the biggest daily rises so far, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 20,278, with 313 deaths and 16,438 recoveries.
Morocco has carried out 1.1 million tests and has made mask-wearing mandatory.
CHAOS AS 600K BRITS FLOCK BACK TO UK
Brits jetting back from Spain faced chaos today after being told they would have to go into an unplanned two-week quarantine.
It is estimated some 600,000 Brits will impacted by the collapse of the air bridge as the Government made the sudden announcement last night.
Holidaymakers have been left scrambling to make arrangements for self-isolation to avoid massive fines.
After a spike in coronavirus cases in Spain, travellers in the country – including island hotspots like Majorca and Ibiza – will now be forced to quarantine for two weeks upon returning home to the UK.
The Foreign Office has also warned against “all but essential travel” to mainland Spain – though this advice does not cover the Canary Islands or Balearic Islands.

Castleford and Salford are among clubs hoping to host test events by holding rugby league matches WITH fans attending in September.

FRANCE SAYS COVID PROGRESS ‘REVERSED’
French health bosses have said any progress made against coronavirus has been “reversed” as lockdown eases.
France recorded 1,130 new infections on Friday as compared to just 81 when lockdown was eased at the end of May.
The country across the pond lamented the situation as cases surge across the continent, saying there has been a “clear increase” since the lifting of lockdown.
The health ministry said: “We have returned to levels comparable with those at the end of the lockdown period.
“We have thus erased a good part of the progress made during the initial weeks since the lockdown was lifted.
“It’s more essential than ever to reimpose our collective discipline.
TV REPORTER’S LIFE SAVED BY VIEWER AFTER CORONA REPORT
A television journalist from Florida had her life saved by a viewer who watched her on a coronavirus newscast.
The viewer emailed Victoria Price from WFLA-TV to tell her the lump on her neck could be cancer, after experiencing it herself.
Ms Price had the lump checked by docs who diagnosed her with thyroid cancer.
She is set to have the tumour removed next week.
250K NURSES WANT TO QUIT OVER PAY
A quarter of a million nurses have said they are considering quitting the NHS over low pay.
A Royal College of Nursing Poll revealed 252,000 nurses are threatening to quit after the Chancellor revealed their doctor colleagues would receive at 2.8 per cent pay hike.
Nurses are currently locked into a three-year wage plan and so will not receive a pay rise.
E-SCOOTER SALES ON THE UP
Sales of e-scooters rose on eBay rose threefold during lockdown.
In March, sales were up 38 per cent on last year’s figures.
It comes as Brits search for alternatives to public transport as lockdown eases amd offices slowly open up.
DOG THEFTS DOUBLE IN LOCKDOWN
Pooch pinchers have upped their game in lockdown, with the number of stolen pets up by 50 per cent.
Data from DogLost shows 123 dogs were stolen in the last four months, compared with 63 in the same period in 2019.
And 100s more “missing” dogs could have been nicked.
Experts say the pups are being swiped for lonely lockdowners stuck at home.
