You probably get more emails than necessary. Most of us do. Rather than google the answer or apply trial and error, someone is emailing you to ask and taking up your time. Or they’re trying to sell you something. Your business will not run without you if your inbox is a bottleneck. So stop that happening.

When my business could no longer function without me, I made a radical decision. I booked a five week trip to Australia 3 months later. I set a deadline to systematize my business as much as possible. Nothing inspires action more than an upcoming flight. , which you know you probably won’t miss.
All of a sudden you’ll be questioning what needs to be done by you and what someone else could take over. You’ll be making SOPs, training new suppliers and freeing yourself of things you should have handed over a long time ago. By the time you get on that flight you’ll have a completely different business. Book it now, see what happens.
Someone in your company needs more accountability. Not only that, but they’re good. Conscientious, diligent and detail-oriented. They care about their consumers and their reputation. Identify this person. Give them more paints and watch them move to the next level. Delegate them, empower them and advertise them accordingly.
When you have reliable team members, you wonder how you ever functioned without them. When you don’t have reliable team members, it’s probably not working at all. Make an appointment with your most productive workers and grow them until they flourish without your intervention. The faster you practice and trust, the faster you will lose time.
Your business doesn’t run without you because deep down, you don’t want it to. You like feeling important. You like the thrill of answering a question. You buzz with pride when you can solve a problem that flummoxes everyone else. Get over that.
Being too available is costing the resourcefulness of your team members. When you’re always around, they don’t think for themselves. They don’t need to. You’re creating a dependency on you that only gets stronger over time. Take time out. Work from home. Start this afternoon. Turn off Slack. Be offline for scheduled time periods and let your best people show you what they can do.
Don’t create an asset that’s a liability. Build an empire that doesn’t burden your soul. Write down your long-term list to define your level of success, and then work to close the hole as soon as possible. Create an automatic email reply. Email your dream trip and train a member of your team to get rid of tasks. Be less and see what they can achieve. If your business depends on you, you’re stuck in your role. When it can function freely, you can achieve so much more.
